As our work develops, we will release our research findings, training materials and insights to help support our partners, university researchers and the growth of the UK's immersive economy.
We are currently undertaking a wide cross-sector skills survey with Immerse UK, Pact, Ukie, UK Screen Alliance and Bima. The results from this will be released in a report that will be made available here in Autumn 2019.
Is Immersive Technology addictive?
Research Papers, April 1st 2019
Is VR addictive? That's what the UK government recently asked us for information on. Our response -- not really! In an article just published on the official parliament website, we argued that new technologies are often viewed with suspicion, but with time this almost always proves unwarranted (did you know that parliament voted on whether or not to curtail the original 'Space Invaders' game in 1981?). Indeed, any early intervention could act to stifle a potential £1bn economy for the UK, consisting of much more than just gaming. Rather, we are at the moment in time when it is critically important to develop the sector by careful investment, as was exactly done by the government and the AHRC, by setting up StoryFutures.View Resource
